Here at Stay the Night, we’re always sharing hostel industry news. We love to see hostels hitting the headlines, putting new digital marketing strategies into practice and generally making waves in the travel industry.

That’s why we have decided to create our very own ‘Hostel Hall of Fame’ – each month, we’ll be highlighting the online (and offline) successes of hostels around the world.

From using InstaStories effectively to attract potential guests to clinching a fantastic piece of coverage in the media, we want to share and celebrate your good news!

UK HOSTELS WIN BIG AT BRITISH YOUTH TRAVEL AWARDS

UK trio Cohort Hostel, Euro Hostels and St Christopher’s Inns won big this month at the recent British Youth Travel Awards 2018 ceremony.

Cornwall based Cohort Hostel – who were featured in iNews’ ‘12 best beach stays around the world’ earlier in the year – was the first victory of the evening as they were named Best Accommodation 2018. Located on St Ives’ coastline in a Grade II listed building, Cohort provide ‘cool, contemporary hostel accommodation’ for travellers.

St Christopher’s Inns also went home with a smile on their faces as they picked up the gong for Best Marketing 2018 –  Euro Hostels came a close second taking home the silver award in this category.

The British Youth Travel Awards celebrate the work and success of organisations engaged in youth, student and educational travel, to from and within the UK.

It’s always so great to celebrate the success of hostels’ hard work – congratulations to all!

HOSTELS AROUND THE WORLD FEATURED IN HUFFINGTON POST’S 2019 MUST VISIT LOCATIONS

From Sri Lanka to South Korea, hostels from the around the globe have been featured in Huffington Post’s article on the best places to stay in 2019.

Inspired by Hostelworld’s list of the 19 most desirable travel destinations for adventure seekers in 2019 based on bookings this year, the online publication listed recommended of all shapes and sizes from different corners of the earth.

It’s always exciting to see hostels receive mainstream media attention and features on websites such as Huffington Post – popular with most hostel’ target audiences – is a really valuable way of strengthening brand awareness among potential guests.

UK based hostel Sleep Eat Love clinched great coverage this month in The Liverpool Echo – one of the country’s leading regional newspapers.

The new luxury hostel, which opened its doors in June 2018, promises visitors an outstanding experience for an affordable price. It consists of 96 rooms which aim to suit all budgets and requirements for those of any age and has adopted an industrial, modern design.

As a brand new hostel, attracting press attention and coverage is an invaluable way of getting your name out there to potential guests and boosting brand awareness. Sleep Eat Love have managed to secure fantastic coverage for both domestic and international travellers – a perfect end to the first year with their doors open to the public.

Over the last few months, Abbey Court Hostel Dublin have curated a fantastic Instagram feed which effectively showcases their destination to potential guests.

Abbey Court’s Instagram is packed full of inspiring, high quality photos of their Dublin destination as well as fun videos of activities around their hostel and local area.

They also share a large amount of user-generated content, particularly of their Instagrammable wall art which covers the front of the hostel’s building, catching the attention of both guests and members of the public.

While promoting the hostel experience you offer for your guests is one of the most important aspects of your digital marketing, showcasing your destination is also pivotal – if travellers don’t know about your location, they won’t be visiting after all.
